RATIONALE:
In this site study students will examine and evaluate sources and digital artefacts in relation to migration experiences Post WWII and into the 1950's. Learning will to progress through the unit Migration Experiences (1945- Present) with a particular focus of the impact of changing policies on Australia's migration patterns. Students have learnt about government policies and practices that restricted migration before WWII and will continue to learn about the governments attempt to attract more migrants to Australia towards the 1950's; as well as explore the hardships faced by migrants with a particular focus of Post WWII Baltic and Italian migrants.
Through examining sources and digital artefacts students will develop knowledge relating to sustainability and world views in relation Australia's emergence as a nation and the growth of the population. Students will also develop critical and creative thinking capabilities, personal and social capabilities and literacy and numeracy skills. The online site study explore historical concepts with a particular focus on empathic understanding and perspective.
